The speakers were not as loud as expected. My speakers from 1985 were large but much more effective.
These haven't quite compared to the last set-up. These speakers were purchased along side a simple sony reciever. For $ 49.00 they are ok. They are decent little speakers that will serve most purposes. I use them in my sound room after blowing up an old reciever and bose speakers. If you are really picky about good qaulity sound, you'll have to dish out more money. For everyday basic use, they'll do the job.
I bought a pair of these to try to get a more full sound out of my surround speaker system comprised of a Sony STR-DN1000, Yamaha 10" powered sub and the Energy Take 5 Classic system. I put these two as my fronts and will go from 5.1 to 7.1 once I finish moving the Take5 satellites. These sound good and last night I watched "Knowing" on BlueRay and the speakers did not disappoint. I can honestly say that my sound system is bigger than my (now dated) 37" Sharp Aquos 1080p LCD.
I am wanting to know what kind of speaker wires these have. Are they two bare wires or a jack. I have a stereo I need to replace the speakers and don't see that anywhere on description.
I have a fairly small family room and don't need too much more.I'm very pleased with the sound and price. I have a Panasonic 50 inch plasma and the TV speakers sound like two internal computer speakers.I'm using these Sony's, with a Sony 7.1 receiver, in Stereo for the present and couldn't be happier. I recently bought this pair to replace my TV speakers, which have to be the worst speakers that one could possibly install in a TV. They can't be beaten for the money.I played the movie "A Bridge Too Far" last night and the "battle sounds" blow you away on these little speakers. They have pretty good Bass and reproduce mid and highs very well. I'm planning for a subwoofer now and that will probably be all. The artillery really booms. I highly recommend these speakers.
